At a Court held for the County of Sᴼton the 10th day of July 1704 } Edward Fisher This acct curr of the Estate of Jeremiah Drew was this date reported and ordered to be recorded Sam Kello ============================================================================================================ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [In the left margin] Halliman Micajah Will In the name of God Amen, the twenty fourth day of December 1788 I Micajah Halliman of the County of Sᴼton and Parish of Nottoway, being very sick & weak in body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be to almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following. That is to say Principally & first of all I give & recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it & for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors Imprimis: My will and desire is that my Executors hereafter named do sell my plantation where I formerly lived or so much thereof as shall lye on the north side of Pasture Neck branch together with a new survey containing 170 acres, the whole being 370 more or less, for the best price that can be had by giving 12 month credit taking bond & sufficient security in order to discharge my just debts In case that should not be sufficient, my will & desire is that my Exors dispose of such other part of my estate as they shall think most advantageous with the approbation of my wife -- Item After my just debts & Expenses are paid I lend the use of my whole estate not heretofore mentioned with their increase to my loving wife Mary until my son Arthur Holliman arrives to the age of 21 years at which time I give to my son Arthur all that tract or parcel of land lying on the south side of the Barbacue Swamp containing by Estimation 400 acres more or less to him and his heirs forever I also give to my son Arthur at his arrival to the age of 21 years 1/3 part of my estate at that time being in the hands of my wife with their increase the value thereof to assertain'd by persons appointed by the county court of Sᴼton to him & his heirs forever. If my son Arthur should depart this life before he arives [sic] to the age of 21 years or without living issue, my will & desire is that his part. so deceas'd should go to my son Exum. -- Item I give to my son Exum Holliman the land & plantation whereon I now live lying on the north side of Barbacue after the death of my wife containing by estimation 400 acres more or less to him & his heirs forever I also give to my son Exum when he shall arrive to the age of 21 years one half of the estate then in the hands of my wife with their increase from the date hereof if my son Exum shoud [sic] depart this life before he arrives to the age of 21 years or without living issue, my will and desire that his part to decease & shoud [sic] go to my son Arthur -- Item My will & desire is that the remainder of my estate with their in crease after the death of my wife be equally divided between my sons Arthur & Exum the survivors of them to their heirs forever -- Item My will and desire is that if possible that my two sons Arthur & Exum can get a sufficient learning by boarding with my that they should not be remov'd -- Item And lastly, I constitute and appoint my friends Jesse Williamson, Samuel Kello & William Urguhart my whole & sole Executors of this my Continue on Page 636 Last Will & Testament in whose hands I also commit the care of my children for their education revoking disanuling [sic] and making void all & every former Will heretofore by me made. Halliman (seal) Absolom Williamson Benjamin White Jr At a Court held for the County of Sᴼton the 12th day of June 1794 This will was prov'd by the oaths Absolom Williamson & Benjamin White, the witnesses thereto and continued for the Exors to qualify and at a Court held for the County of Sᴼton the 10th day of July 1794 The Exors named in the will refusing to qualify the will is ordered to be recorded -- And on the motion of John Urguhart who made oath according to law, a certificate is granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration on the estate of Micajah Halliman dec'd with this will annexed giving security whereupon &c.
